Abordagem fisioterápica em pacientes portadores de fibromialgia: efeito sobre mobilidade, dor e sono

Resumo: Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic affection, with unknow etiology, and most of the patients are female. It is characterized by the presence of aching points known as tender points, by diffuse and generalized musculoskeletal pain associated to sleep disturbance, morning stiffness, and easy fatigability. This way, our study attempts to assess effects of physiotherapy treatment in patients with fibromyalgia, and how it interferes in the mobility, sleep disturbance and pain. Six female patients with fibromyalgia were evaluated and submitted to kinesiotherapy with muscular stretching exercises, and generic physical exercise. Our results show physioterapy is efficient — and an important alternative — to treat patients with fibromyalgia, bringing pain relief, better sleep quality, and increased trunk mobility, thus improving patients, general functional capacity.

Manifesta-se cronicamente por dores difusas no corpo e pontos dolorosos denominados tender points. São freqüentes as queixas de distúrbios do sono, fadiga crônica e rigidez matinal, agravando-se com mudanças climáticas, atividade forçada, stress e depressão. Por se tratar de patologia refratária a medicamentos e com quadro doloroso severo, justifica-se nosso interesse em estudar a eficácia da Fisioterapia no tratamento desses pacientes, investigando assim seus efeitos sobre mobilidade, dor e sono. Participaram deste estudo seis pacientes do sexo feminino com diagnóstico de fibromialgia. Após a avaliação fisioterápica, as pacientes submeteram-se a tratamento com base em alongamentos musculares e mobilização global. As variáves foram comparadas antes e após o tratamento. Os resultados obtidos em nosso estudo sugerem que a assistência fisioterápica reduziu o quadro álgico, melhoraram a qualidade de sono e a mobilidade do tronco. Por sua vez, esses ganhos melhoraram a qualidade funcional das atividades da vida diária, sugerindo que a Fisioterapia pode ser uma opção importante para o tratamento da fibromialgia.Universidade de São Paulo.
