Resumo: O Turismo Rural vem para contribuir com a diversificação da oferta turística, aumentar os locais de trabalho, interiorizar as atividades turísticas e valorizar o meio rural. A presente pesquisa visa contextualizar o Turismo Rural, apontar os benefícios que o mesmo pode proporcionar ao município de Itapetininga, dada suas características. Apresenta também conceitos da Administração Pública, apontando meios pelo qual a mesma pode impulsionar o segmento no município. Através do questionário apresentado é possível ter uma noção do perfil dos possíveis turistas e o que os mesmos compreendem da modalidade.
