Resumo: This article presents the results of the master research, "Natural Monument Pontoons Capixabas: Pomeranian identity in the defense of the territory", developed in the city Pancas, Espírito Santo. Their traditional territory of the local Pomeranian community was transformed into a Conservation Unit of Integral Protection, generating a situation of socio-environmental conflict and the emergence of processes of territorial defense and identity strengthening.  The objective of the research is to strengthen the relations of mutual effort of the struggle for the rights and the defense of the territory. Continuing to analyze the process of confirming the identity and unity of the Pomeranian community. But also the development of measures with the local population regarding the context analysis for the protection of the environment in Brazil. This study will be coordinated with the action research in order to seek to understand the context at the same time, which interferes with reality.

This study will be coordinated with the action research in order to seek to understand the context at the same time, which interferes with reality.Este artigo apresenta resultados parciais da pesquisa de mestrado, ainda em andamento, “Monumento Natural dos Pontões Capixabas: identidade pomerana em defesa do território”, desenvolvida no município de Pancas, Espírito Santo, cujo território tradicional da comunidade pomerana local foi transformado em uma Unidade de Conservação de Proteção Integral, gerando uma situação de conflito socioambiental e a emergência de processos de  defesa do território e fortalecimento identitário. O objetivo da pesquisa é analisar as relações de mútuo esforço entre a luta por direitos e defesa do território e o processo de afirmação identitária e de pertencimento da comunidade pomerana, além de desenvolver ações de intervenção junto à população local ao mesmo tempo que analisa o contexto da proteção ambiental no Brasil.
