Determinants of Paraná’s exports to Latin America and the Caribbean: an application of the gravitational models

The objective of this paper was to identify the determinants of the exports of Parana to Latin America and Caribbean. The study starts from the equation of the gravitational model applied to international trade. In order to fulfill the proposed objective, after describing the models of international trade and showing the importance of exports, are presented the determinants of Parana exports to the Latin American countries considered in the study. The application of the methodology (econometric model presented) allows to affirm that 89.89% of Parana's exports to Latin America and the Caribbean are explained by the variables chosen in the analysis: GDP of Parana, GDP of Importing Countries, Population of Parana, Distance, Importing Countries and Dummy Mercosur. The statistical results of the applied model and the chosen variables can be seen in table 1.
