Resumo: | OBJECTIVE: To verify the distribution of neonatal mortality due to conditions originating in the perinatal period in the health regions of Pará.METHODS: Quantitative, cross-sectional and retrospective study carried out using data from the Information System on Mortality and the Information System on Live Births (2009 to 2019). The population consisted of neonates up to 27 days old who died due to some cause related to the perinatal period. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test in the Bioestat 5.3 software.RESULTS: 13,524 perinatal deaths were recorded. The Metropolitan Region I had the highest mortality rate (12.16 deaths per thousand inhabitants). Regarding age and causes of death (p<0.001), the predominant age group was 1 to 6 days after delivery (47.96%) and the main cause was bacterial septicemia of the newborn (16.52%).CONCLUSIONS: There is a need for differentiated strategies of intervention and investment in perinatal health, taking into consideration the specific characteristics of each region. Understanding the sociodemographic variables associated with neonatal mortality enables personalized approaches for promoting maternal and child health in different contexts. |
