The impact of COVID-19 on the exacerbation of cases of violence against woman: reflection in the light of literature

OBJECTIVE: Discuss or increase in violence against women during the COVID-19 pandemic, in response to measures of containment and social distancing.METHODS: Scielo, PubMed, Lilacs and Google Scholar databases were consulted, including articles in portuguese and english. The terms COVID-19, pandemics, critical period, psychological, gender-based violence were used as keywords.RESULTS: There was an increase in the number of victims of domestic violence during the pandemic, duo to the need to be quarantined, forcing them to live daily with their aggressors. As a result, these women become more vulnerable to physical, sexual and psycological aggression.CONCLUSIONS: The current global health scenario, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an exarcebation of domestic violence, as a result of social isolation measures, essential for controlling the spread of the new coronavirus.
