Resumo: OBJECTIVE: Analyze the relationship between physical activity levels (PAL) and quality of life (QoL) in police officers of an independent tactical policing company in Juazeiro, Bahia.METHODS: Cross-sectional study. For fata collection, two questionnaires were used: one regarding QoL (WHOQOL-bref) and another referred to PAL (IPAQ). Descriptive statistics were performed and, afterwards, participants were divided according to PAL classifications obtained from IPAQ. A comparison between PAL groups and the domains of QoL perception was performed using Kruskal-Wallis’ test. Finally, Spearman’s Correlation was performed to associate weekly energy expenditure (estimated through IPAQ) and QoL domains. The level of significance adopted was p<0.05.RESULTS: The sample consisted of 51 police officers (46 men and 5 women), aged between 25 and 51 years, from the Military Police of Bahia. Results from IPAQ showed that 15.7% of the sample presented low PAL, 49.0% had moderate PAL and 35.5% presented high PAL. The domains of WHOQOL-bref revealed that participants consider having a good QoL. The comparison of QoL according to the classifications of PAL showed statistically significant results. However, positive correlations were found between weekly energy expenditure and the self-assessment of QoL (r=0.338; p=0.015) and total QoL (r=0.319; p=0.022).CONCLUSIONS: There was no difference between the NAF and QoL in the investigated police officers.
