Resumo: | OBJECTIVE: To evaluated quality of life and its associated factors among employees of and educational institution from Criciúma, Santa Catarina.METHODS: It is a cross-sectional study carried out with 225 employees of a teaching institution with elementary, middle and high school, and university education, in Criciúma city, Santa Catarina. The quality of life outcome was assessed by the four domains according to WHOQOL-Bref. For the association between quality of life and the exposure variables studied (sex, age, skin color, marital status, schooling, income, nutritional status and sleep), T-test for independent samples and analysis of variance were used, followed by the Bonferroni test.RESULTS: The mean age of the sample was 40.2 years (± 11.0), predominantly women (63.1%). Male employees showed higher averages for the physical and environmental domains compared to the female ones. Those who received at least 5 minimum wages had greater averages in the physical, psychological and environmental domains when compared to those receiving from 1 to 2 minimum wages.CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of common mental disorders found among teachers is important as it may reflect on general health and on their professional performance. |

O desfecho qualidade de vida foi avaliado através dos quatro domínios de acordo com o WHOQOL-Bref. Para a associação entre a qualidade de vida e as variáveis de exposição estudadas (sexo, idade, cor da pele, estado civil, escolaridade, renda, estado nutricional e sono) foi utilizado teste t para amostras independentes e análise de variância, seguida do teste de Bonferroni.RESULTADOS: A média de idade da amostra foi de 40,2 anos (±11,0), com predominância do sexo feminino (63,1%). Funcionários do sexo masculino apresentaram maiores médias para os domínios físico e meio ambiente comparados aos do sexo feminino. Aqueles que recebiam, pelo menos, 5 salários mínimos tiveram maiores médias nos domínios físico, psicológico e meio ambiente quando comparados aos que recebiam de 1 a 2 salários mínimos.CONCLUSÕES: A população estudada está exposta a fatores potenciais para redução da qualidade de vida.
