Resumo: A recent national regulation on the control of firearms introduced rules restricting its possession and brought the mandatory psychological evaluation for acquisition and possession of firearms including the psychologist into this evaluative practice. However we faced an evaluation context marked by gaps, limitations and difficulties, both in its theoretical foundation as the lack of scientific productions, mostly concerning the psychological characteristics more relevant to people who carry weapons, even in individuals that the firearm is intrinsic to their profession. Among the instruments used and recommended to assess personality characteristics in this context, the projective tests can be used. They allow describing the overall personality of the individual, considering its various aspects, especially in the cognitive, affective, interpersonal area and even the possible presence of psychopathological signs. This paper discusses the use of projective test Zulliger, according to the Comprehensive System, which has shown promising results of validity and reliability in the clinical setting and some research in the organizational context. The study is based on police officers (N = 30) divided into two groups, aged between 29 and 58 years old, who carry firearms and have training and different activities within the same police institution. The target is to examine the differences between these two groups comparing the results of the indicators level of Resource and Control group and the Affection module of the Zulliger test. The study also aims to contribute to the processes of psychological assessment and provide preliminary data for some indicators of the Zulliger test in this context. The Zulliger test showed differences between the two groups, indicating the presence of favorable variables for control and stress tolerance and emotional expression in the group with a high technical level and without psychological damage. Variables that showed a significant difference between the groups was the sum of the determinant of View (SumV) and the proportion of FC > CF + C.
