Resumo: This research was conducted to analyze the trajectory of the students who completed the Young Apprentice Program and the effectiveness of that learning program. The analysis was made from the perspective of the young apprentices themselves, using a descriptive exploratory nature qualitative approach, with the application of semi-structured interviews. Five categories were prepared, as follows: young apprentice’s expectations regarding the program, young apprentice program’s contributions to job placement, learning at the young apprentice program and at the companies, expectations about the future and feelings regarding the young apprentice program. Five apprentices aged between 18 and 22, who completed the apprenticeship program at the educational institution SENAC (Curitiba, PR, Brazil) participated in the interview. Regarding their experience at the companies, it is noticeable that the Young Apprentice Program does not meet their needs for they perform repetitive activities, and generates uncertainty regarding the labor market. In this sense, there was a lack of information as to the purpose of the Young Apprentice Program and the difficulty for the young apprentices to be included in the labor market. Finally, it was evident that it is necessary to stablish public policies that meet the needs of the young apprentices in the labor market in the sense of forming autonomous individuals with critical sense. It is necessary to analyze the current Young Apprentice Program format, in addition to seeking alternatives regarding the participation of companies in the process.

Foram elaboradas cinco categorias a priori, sendo: expectativas em relação ao Programa Jovem Aprendiz, contribuições do Programa Jovem Aprendiz para a inserção laboral, aprendizado no Programa Jovem Aprendiz e na empresa, expectativa quanto ao futuro e sentimento quanto ao Programa Jovem Aprendiz. Participaram da entrevista cinco jovens com idade entre 18 e 22 anos, que concluíram o programa de aprendizagem na instituição formadora SENAC-PR na cidade de Curitiba. Quanto à experiência do jovem na empresa, é perceptível que o PJA não atende às suas necessidades, por serem atividades repetitivas, além de gerar insegurança com relação ao mercado de trabalho. Nesse sentido, constatou-se a falta de informação quanto ao objetivo do Programa Jovem Aprendiz e dificuldade do jovem de incluir-se no mercado laboral. Por fim, evidenciou-se a necessidade de políticas públicas que atendam às necessidades do jovem quanto ao mercado laboral, no sentido de formação de sujeitos autônomos e com senso crítico.
