Resumo: In addition to the wore figurines and costumes featured in films, cinema and fashion are sewn into other possibilities in contemporary screens. In the present study the theme of fashion in the cinema is approached through the documentary The True Cost (2015), of Andrew Morgan, in which the director presents through a discourse constructed by images, reports, and interviews, the operation of the fast industry fashion, current fashion system that aims at high speed of production and consumption of goods with fashion information. In analyzing such characteristics of the film, we problematize issues pertinent to truth and ethics in the documentary; how Morgan's production can be reliable, eloquent, persuasive depending on how it is seen and interpreted. To discuss the present discourse in The True Cost (2015), the paper uses the studies proposed by authors like Fernão Pessoa Ramos (2013), Bill Nichols (2005), among others, and their theories pertinent to the truth, reality, and ethics in documentary films. Another point presented and discussed in this research refers to the very theme discussed in The True Cost (2015); the social and environmental impacts of fast fashion, as well as changes in consumer behavior and its reflexes in contemporary fashion.

No presente estudo a temática moda no cinema se faz abordada por meio do documentário The True Cost (2015), de Andrew Morgan, no qual o diretor apresenta mediante um discurso construído por imagens, relatos e entrevistas, o funcionamento da indústria do fast fashion, sistema de moda vigente nos dias atuais, que visa alta velocidade de produção e consumo de bens com informação de moda. Ao analisar tais características do citado filme, problematizamos questões pertinentes a verdade e ética no documentário; o quanto a produção de Morgan pode ser fidedigna, eloquente, persuasiva a depender do modo como se faz vista e interpretada. Para discorrer sobre o discurso presente em The True Cost (2015), o trabalho utiliza-se dos estudos propostos por autores como Fernão Pessoa Ramos (2013), Bill Nichols (2005), dentre outros, e suas teorias pertinentes à verdade, realidade e ética nos filmes documentários.
