The study made regarding the works Mar Português, present in the poem collection Mensagem, originally published in 1934, by Fernando Pessoa and Os Lusíadas, published in 1572 by Luis de Camões, will have as its main objectives: observe the intertextual relations that can be established between both texts, as well as making an interpretative analysis on the diverse possibilities of reading Fernando Pessoas’s production. To help the development of the present paper an option was made to search for theoretical assistance (even though it is not manifested explicitly in the body of the present paper) in Erich Auerbach with his work Mimesis (1994) and Northrop Frye with Anatomia da Crítica (1980), not being possible to overlook and not bpay a tribute to Aristotle and his Arte retórica e arte poética (1984). This type of reference, of a more classical nature, cannot be put aside when there is an intention to approach works such as Mensagem and Os Lusíadas, that can be classified as members of the Classical Literature pantheon.
