Resumo: | The writer Osman Lins, from Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco, Brazil went toEurope for the first time in 1961, on a scholarship from Alliance Française. During his stay there, besides studying French and being a contributor for O Estado de S. Paulo, he made a plan to exploit, in an intelligent way, the great cultural patrimony of the Old Continent. After a period ofsix months, he returned to Brazil completely engaged by everything he had seen and heard thereand decided to share his experiences with his readers. Thus he wrote Marinheiro de primeira viagem, published in 1963. What calls our attention are not only the reports of his experiences from histrip written in short narratives and marked by a dialogue between reality and visual, literary, philosophical works of art, linked to day-to-day news, among other stylistic resources, butanother aspect of his work: the way he links the stories. Their relation between them is not linear, but cyclical. Besides this mythical structure there is a reference to the myth of Orpheus thatassumes a strategic role in Marinheiro de primeira viagem, giving it an overarching poetic tone in which form and content intertwine. |

Besides this mythical structure there is a reference to the myth of Orpheus thatassumes a strategic role in Marinheiro de primeira viagem, giving it an overarching poetic tone in which form and content intertwine.O escritor Osman Lins, pernambucano de Vitória de Santo Antão, em 1961, fez suaprimeira viagem à Europa como bolsista da Alliance Française.
