Resumo:  This paper discusses elderly valorization with the music utilization. Its objective is to talk about the importance of music for the valorization process for the elder citizens, as well as the aid it can provide to the elderly. Besides contributing to a better life quality, music also helps in socialization, communication, creativity, and motor coordination of the elderly. It is important to take into account that the musical practice should always be part of the elderly of the life, contributing to the intellectual development of each individual. The present paper has as theorical base the works of authors like: Mascaro (2004), Rodrigues (2003), Zanini (2003), among others. Based on a bibliographical research in the fields of musical education, old age and life quality it was possible to observe the relationship between music and elderly, checking how music can have an effect on the human being and help them keep a better life quality.

Tem como objetivo abordar a importância da música no processo de valorização desta faixa etária, bem como a ajuda que aquela pode propiciar ao idoso. Além de contribuir para uma melhor qualidade de vida, a música também ajuda na socialização, comunicação, criatividade e coordenação motora dos idosos. Cabe ressaltar que a prática musical deve sempre fazer parte das atividades dos idosos, colaborando para o crescimento intelectual de cada um. Tem como base teórica os trabalhos dos autores Mascaro (2004), Rodrigues (2003), Zanini (2003), dentre outros. Com base em uma pesquisa bibliográfica em educação musical, velhice e qualidade de vida foi possível observar as relações entre música e idosos, verificando como aquela pode agir no ser humano e ajudá-lo a ter uma velhice com mais qualidade.
