Giving voice to worker’s discourse: real activity and language

Resumo: Based on a brief methodological discussion about the Ergonomic Work Analysis, this study aims at evaluating the role of workers’ discourse during each stage of an ergonomic intervention. We discuss how work and language practices are related and show how essential it is to have access to what workers say. Through discourse analyses, the ergonomist is able to understand activities constraints, in order to transform the work. We indicate how the studies on language practices may co-operate with the ergonomic intervention. Our conclusion is that, if we use two fields of knowledge to understand the real activity, it will be necessary to discuss the limits of the knowledge and concepts used in ergonomic practice. Key words: work, discourse, ergonomics, real activity.Baseado na metodologia da Análise Ergonômica do Trabalho, este estudo tem como objetivo principal avaliar o papel do discurso dos trabalhadores durante cada fase de uma ação ergonômica. Discutimos como as práticas de linguagem se relacionam com o trabalho e mostramos a importância do acesso à fala do trabalhador, pois é por meio da análise dos discursos coletados que o ergonomista é capaz de entender os constrangimentos presentes na atividade para, em seguida, transformar o trabalho. Procuramos também apontar como os estudos das práticas de linguagem podem contribuir durante a ação, caso sejam utilizados e empregados, desde a análise da demanda, até a validação da intervenção realizada. Concluímos que, ao aproximarmos campos de saber distintos para compreendermos a atividade real, torna-se necessário rediscutir os limites dos conhecimentos e dos conceitos utilizados durante a prática ergonômica.
