Resumo: The present article, based on Psycholinguistics studies and Textual Linguistics, shows the results of a research on the effects of computer activities based on prediction on the reading comprehension of students from the 5th and 6th grades of the Elementary School. According to the pre-tests and post-tests, we have observed a meaningful improvement on their reading comprehension, after they have done the activities that had been prepared for this research and that can be found on the CD Estratégias de Leitura (Learning Strategies). These results indicate that the teaching of reading can really be improved by the use of activities based on the prediction strategy. Besides, they introduce other possibilities that can contribute for the learning of such abilities. Key words: reading, learning, reading strategies, predictability.

Key words: reading, learning, reading strategies, predictability.O presente artigo, que está baseado em estudos da Psicolingüística e da Lingüística do Texto, traz o relato de uma pesquisa sobre os efeitos de atividades computadorizadas de predição na compreensão leitora de alunos de 5ª e 6ª séries do Ensino Fundamental. Comparando os pré-testes de leitura com os pós-testes, verificamos uma significativa melhora na compreensão leitora desses alunos, a partir das atividades constantes do CD Estratégias de Leitura, produzido e gerado para fins dessa pesquisa. Tais resultados indicam que o ensino da leitura pode ser significativamente favorecido pelo uso de atividades que exploram a estratégia de predição. Além disso, sinalizam para a possibilidade de outras estratégias igualmente contribuírem para a aprendizagem dessas habilidades.
