Toward a more inclusive Applied Linguistics

Resumo: This article advances the discussion proposed during the Opening Lecture of the Academic Semester at the Graduate Program in Applied Linguistics and the Undergraduate Program in Language Studies at Universidade do Vale dos Sinos (Unisinos), Brazil, about the correspondence, in terms of social relevance, between different Applied Linguistics fields and political agenda topics. Based on my research with business organizations, supported by CNPq, I attempt to show how this scenario is fertile for building and sharing/universalizing scientific knowledge of practical relevance, contributing to the development of people, the efficiency of enterprises, and consequently the competitiveness of the country. Key words: Applied Linguistics, organizational studies, national development.

Partindo da minha experiência em pesquisas na área das organizações empresariais, desenvolvidas com o apoio do CNPq, busco mostrar como esse cenário é fértil para construir e universalizar conhecimento científico de relevância prática, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento das pessoas, a eficiência das empresas e, consequentemente, a competitividade do país.
