Resumo: This study aims to perform a systematic review of the literature on the relationship between impulsivity and inhibitory control in eating disorders (ED). For this purpose, a search for scientific articles in English, Portuguese and Spanish was performed in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed. We found 48 articles for composing the present study. Differences were examined between types of ED regarding impulsivity and distinctions between men and women with regard to these characteristics. Most studies have highlighted impulsiveness as a characteristic present in the behavior of purging and binge eating, and the more impulsive the subject, the more likely to experience this kind of conduct. Thus, according to these results, we think that impulsivity does not differentiate the diagnosis of ED but its presentation subtype. Keywords: eating disorders, impulsivity, inhibitory control.

Unisinos2016-08-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/ctc.2016.92.0510.4013/ctc.2016.92.05Contextos Clínicos; v. 9 n. 2 (2016): Jul-Dez; 194-2011983-3482reponame:Contextos Clínicosinstname:Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS)instacron:Unisinosporhttps://revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/ctc.2016.92.05/5657Terroso, Lauren Bulcãode Almeida, Rosa Maria Martinsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2017-01-11T18:44:11Zoai:ojs2.revistas.unisinos.br:article/10921Revistahttps://revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicosPUBhttps://revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/oaidfalcke@unisinos.br||periodicos@unisinos.br1983-34821983-3482opendoar:2017-01-11T18:44:11Contextos Clínicos - Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS)false
