Literary art × pedagogical support: contributions of children’s literature in the discovery of the child’s world

Resumo: This paper discusses the deadlock involving Children’s Literature: art or pedagogical support? Through a reflection on gender, the study tries to point out paths to an improvement in the quality of work on reading, from the choice of literary works offered to students to their implications on intellectual and emotional development of children. This study aims to promote, thus, a discussion on the importance of Children’s Literature in the construction of subjectivity and on the child’s attribution of meaning to the world, which would culminate in the formation of competent, autonomous and prepared-for-life readers.
