This paper aims to describe the morphometric characteristics of Tabebuia aurea (craibeira) in an urbanized area at the Federal University of Alagoas in order to provide support for the development of its proper management. The survey included 50 individuals with chest height circumference (CHC) greater than 15.0 cm. Each tree had the following variables measured: Total height (h), commercial stem height (CST), diameter at breast height (DBH), crown diameter (CD), crown length (CL). Subsequently, some morphometric parameters were calculated: crown ratio (CR), crown projection area (CPA), degree of slenderness (DS), salience index (SI), coverage index (CI), vital space index (VSI) and formal canopy (FC). The results presented show that T. aurea development in the area is not affected by competition, since it is inserted in the urban environment, besides that, the subject have good morphometric characteristics for the use of afforestation, being stable and with enough crowns to provide a good shade area.
