Resumo: | The washing of vehicles is one of the activities that demands more drinking water, however, aiming at the economy of this resource, its reuse has been proposed and studied. Therefore, the objective of the present work was to compare the applicability of aluminum sulfate and moringa seeds (Moringa oleífera), in the process of clarification of the effluent from car washing. Samples of 1.0 L, collected in a jet washer located in the Municipality of Sumé-PB, were used to perform the tests, conducted in PET bottles, being applied as coagulants the aluminum sulfate and moringa seeds sprayed. Factorial planning was applied to verify the influence of the treatment time and mass or volume of coagulant on the turbidity, pH and electrical conductivity of the samples. The results obtained for turbidity allowed to verify a reduction of up to 94% when using the coagulant obtained from the moringa seed and up to 96% for sulfate, which also provided the reduction of pH and increased conductivity. Statistical analysis indicated that, for a 95% confidence level, the effect of time was significant on the turbidity response, for the two coagulants used. For the conditions studied, it can be stated that moringa seeds can be applied as a coagulant in the treatment of wastewater from the washer jet, reducing the turbidity levels, with the advantage of being a natural product of low cost and without promoting significant changes in pH and conductivity of the samples. |
