Resumo: The theme addressed in this text is education for work and its nuances with professional, technical and technological education in Brazil. In an essay style, this writing departs from the meaning of work in human life and situates education as an attitude or practice that arises from the achievements of work. The main purpose is to explore differences and connections between education for work and professional, technical and technological education. Along the way, references are made to the history of education for work in Brazil, as well as professional education. The sequence of the text contemplates dialogues with classical thinkers such as Marx, Engels and Marcuse and also weaves connections between ideas of Brazilian authors who worked in professional education throughout the 20th century or of authors whose elaborations emphasized the importance of the insertion of manual activities within the Brazilian school, in order to make it more interesting, lively and engaging.

Finalidade principal é explorar diferenças e conexões entre educação para o trabalho   e educação profissional, técnica e tecnológica.
