Resumo: | The motivation for this work arose from the desire for a better education in this country. The work aims to promote reflection on the teaching and learning of mathematics at a basic level, identifying the structural problems that can enhance students' difficulties with regard to effective understanding of science. First, we performed a literature search on the topic, which some authors have pointed out the important factors that could influence this process. Subsequently, through interviews conducted with 50 students of Basic Education of the West Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, whose ages ranged from 12 to 19 years is sought answers to improving the quality of mathematics classes, through problems identified by the students themselves. In another time, four students from the 9th grade of elementary school, not involved in the interview, participated in a case study that included one of the factors mentioned in the work. In the concluding remarks are presented reflections on the consequences that the mitigation of factors could cause. |

O trabalho tem como objetivo a promo??o de reflex?es sobre o processo de ensino e aprendizagem de Matem?tica em n?vel b?sico, procurando identificar os problemas estruturais que podem potencializar as dificuldades dos estudantes, no tocante ? compreens?o efetiva da ci?ncia. Primeiramente, foi feita uma pesquisa bibliogr?fica acerca do tema, onde alguns autores apontaram fatores importantes que poderiam influenciar esse processo. Posteriormente, por interm?dio de entrevistas realizadas junto a 50 estudantes da Educa??o B?sica da Zona Oeste do Munic?pio do Rio de Janeiro, cuja faixa et?ria variava de 12 a 19 anos, buscou-se respostas para a melhoria da qualidade das aulas de Matem?tica, atrav?s dos problemas apontados pelos pr?prios alunos. Num outro momento, quatro estudantes do 9? ano do Ensino Fundamental, n?o envolvidos na entrevista, participaram de um estudo de caso que contemplou um dos fatores apontados no trabalho.
