Good financial management involves quality and the lowest cost. The Civil Construction market is increasingly demanding. To generate profit a good work requires good planning and management. In view of the above, it is intended to show how the small and medium-sized companies of Greater Florianopolis/SC use the financial management tools presented in this work, in their daily life to manage their business. Data will be collected from primary and secondary sources. For the collection of primary source data the instrument used is an applied questionnaire. The survey will be conducted with small and medium-sized companies of Greater Florianopolis - being delimited by the municipalities of Florianopolis, São José, Palhoça and Biguaçu. The research uses the method of Survey, is characterized from the point of view of nature as basic. As for the approach, it is classified as qualitative and from the point of view of the objectives as descriptive. The questionnaire was developed in a Google tool, the "Google Forms" and forwarded by email to companies. It is known that management and planning, alone do not always guarantee the success of companies, but can be an indispensable tool, the differential in its growth and success. The use of these tools brings with it operations performed effectively. Many construction companies, according to the study, still do not give due importance to good financial management practices, which can be the difference in survival, especially in small companies, where resources are more limited and the capital of minor spin.
