The presente study analyzes a comparative between asbestos-cement roof tiles and concrete roof tiles in na área with high incidence of hailstorms, therefore, is recommended that the building contains a constructive material for the roof with longer durability, so that it can achieve a better minium performance required by the needs of the nature, bringing concerned roof. The main points assessed so that the study could be completed were the costs of booth purchasing and implementation of each roof tile, of the elementar componentes and the necessary schemes, the average of the material taking into account the hailstorms of the region of Santa Catarina and finally the comparison between the two suggested conditions, bringing the cost-benefit (total cost/warranty period) of both situations, being able to evaluate concretely which material will have greater economic advantage and well-being for the population. In the end of this essay it could be concluded, with numbers, that the issue of this graduation work has been answered. The cost-benefit of the roof whit a 6mm asbestos cement shingle whitout asbestos was better compared to the roof made of concrete shingle, even though the material had to be changed after the first material warranty time was exceeded.
