Resumo: The main general purpose of this research was to alert about the existence of the Ionizing Cosmic Radiation, how it can harm the health of jet aircraft crew members, how its incidence increases in high altitudes and what the crew members and air companies can do to mitigate the risk that this long term exposure can cause. This research was exploratory in scope based on bibliographic procedures and documents, through books, articles, researches, studies and news reports. In the end, awareness will be raised on the consequences that might suffer the health of crew members from long journeys at high altitudes, especially those who operate near the poles of the Earth.

Esta pesquisa foi de âmbito exploratório com procedimentos bibliográficos e documental, por meio de livros, artigos, pesquisas, estudos e reportagens.
