Resumo: The Statistical Yearbook of Accidents at Work 2017 indicates that the causes of occupational accidents are divided into: unsafe acts - 86%; unsafe conditions - 12% and nature elements / special situations with 2%. In an increasingly competitive market, it is imperative that organizations invest in the improvement of their processes aiming at a safe work environment. The vast majority of accident analyzes refer to the cause of the accident as an unsafe act of the worker, without further analysis, which makes the correct investigation of the accident impossible, and preventing the adoption of preventive measures, as it places all the “fault” of the accident in the accident. himself injured. In order to analyze the interactions between man, task and environment, specifically, when the cause is attributed to an unsafe act, the theory of analysis of the 12 elements of human nature is cited within the World Class Manufacturing management methodology. in which there are specific countermeasures for each root cause of human error. Thus, the general objective of this paper was to address the 12 elements in the scope of occupational safety as a tool to investigate the root cause of accidents caused by unsafe acts.
