Resumo: Objective: Socioepidemiological characterization of patients undergoing preanesthetic evaluation (PAC) in a private anesthesiology clinic in southern Santa Catarina. Methods: A total of 451 patients treated between October 2015 and December 2017, of which 309 were included and 142 excluded because their evaluation forms were incompletely completed. The variables studied were: age, gender, body mass index (BMI); American Society Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification, drug allergy, drug classes in use, Mallampati index and history of probable difficult airway, history of previous surgeries and anesthesia. Results: The prevalence of procedures released was 97,1%. Females predominated (65%), with the majority of patients (74,8%) between 18 and 59 years old and 69,5% were overweight (body mass index – BMI between 25 and 29,9 kg/m²) and obese grade I, II and III (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m²). More than half of them used continuous medication (59,9%), had physical status classification ASA II (60,5%) and had Mallampati I and II index (79,6%). The most prevalent surgical specialty among those evaluated was orthopedics (22%) and 74,1% of the patients had already undergone anesthetic/surgical procedure. The most requested laboratory tests were platelets, blood count and fasting glucose. Conclusions: The prevalence of procedures released after PAC was 97,1%. The socioepidemiological profile of the patients treated at clinic studied was: female, aged between 18 and 59 years, overweight, on continuous medication use, ASA II, low risk of difficult airway. The most prevalent surgical specialty was orthopedics and most had already undergone some anesthetic/surgical procedure.
