Resumo: The motivation for the construction of this work came with the current situation experienced by the whole world. The COVID-19 pandemic presented us with countless possibilities for learning mathematics. From this, this work aims to propose didactic situations for basic education involving mathematical modeling with the use of functions in the evolution of COVID-19. It is always a great challenge for the teacher to take mathematics related to real situations to the classroom and propose something different. In this context, it is known that the content of functions is directly linked to various activities of daily life and therefore its study is extremely important. In addition, the use of mathematical modeling as a facilitator of this learning instigates the student to investigate, research and be more critical. In this way, we believe in the relevance of this type of didactic proposal that can contribute to the study of functions with high school students. Keywords: Mathematical modeling. Functions. COVID-19.A motivação para a construção deste trabalho veio com a atual situação vivenciada por todo o mundo. A pandemia por COVID-19 apresentou inúmeras possibilidades de aprendizado da matemática. A partir disso, este trabalho tem como objetivo propor situações didáticas para a educação básica envolvendo a modelagem matemática com o uso de funções na evolução da transmissão da COVID-19. É sempre um grande desafio para o professor levar para a sala de aula a matemática ligada a situações reais e propor algo diferente. Nesse contexto, sabe-se que o conteúdo de funções está diretamente ligado a várias atividades do cotidiano e por isso seu estudo é de extrema importância. Além disso, o uso da modelagem matemática como instrumento facilitador desse aprendizado instiga o aluno a investigar, pesquisar e a ser mais crítico. Metodologicamente, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa de cunho quantitativa, exploratória e bibliográfica. Entende-se que os resultados alcançados com as sequências didáticas foram satisfatórios, pois permitirão que o educador proporcione aos educandos uma maneira de estudar o conteúdo matemático explorando o caso real da COVID-19.
