Resumo: This research had as a general objective to identify which concept of the passenger terminal to use in the construction or expansion of an airport. For this, the origin and evolution of the concepts of passenger terminals at airports were introduced, the application of terminal concepts according to the type of operation was identified and how to allocate the aircrafts in the maneuvering aprons, according to the concepts of terminals, was described. It is characterized as an exploratory research with a bibliographic and documentary procedure, with a qualitative approach. In carrying out the research were used aeronautical publications, books, thesis, articles and internet sites. At the end of this research, it is concluded that for the construction or expansion of a new passenger terminal, the choice of concept or combination of concepts to be used, will be related to a specific and targeted analysis for each enterprise, and should be analyzed the type of operation to be carried out at the airport, the types of aircraft the airlines will use, the volume of passengers boarded and landed, the area available for construction and/or expansion and the road access system.

Para isto, foi apresentada a origem e evolução dos conceitos de terminais de passageiros nos aeroportos, foi identificada a aplicação dos conceitos de terminais em relação ao tipo de operação e foi descrito como ocorre a alocação de aeronaves nos pátios de manobras em função dos conceitos de terminais utilizados. Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa exploratória com procedimento bibliográfico e documental, com abordagem qualitativa. Na realização desta pesquisa foram utilizadas publicações aeronáuticas, livros, dissertações, artigos e sites da internet.
