This work aims to verify the operational security challenges in general aviation. It is widely known that aviation is very important for a country's development. However, this is not restricted to regular commercial aviation, popularly known as airline. In Brazil, the largest aviation segment, in terms of number of aircraft, is general aviation. As a consequence, the highest rate of aeronautical accidents and incidents is linked precisely to this segment. The nature of the research is qualitative, with a monographic procedure method and bibliographic research technique, using doctrines, legislation, reports and annuals. To contextualize the research, the panorama of aeronautical accidents and incidents as well as its variables will be addressed. The segments within general aviation that are responsible for most of the occurrences and the characteristics most present in them will be analyzed. With this foundation, a comparison was made between the measures that are currently taken to significantly reduce these occurrences, as well as the suggestion of new mitigating means.
