Resumo: The objective of this study was to analyze the results of clinical treatment in dogs with presumptive diagnosis of DDIV treated at the UNISUL Veterinary Hospital from 2015 to 2018 and to obtain information regarding age, sex, race and site of the lesion and to evaluate the degrees of neurological dysfunction and to observe complications and relapse of the clinical signs of the disease. Data were collected from the records and through a questionnaire answered by the owners, we evaluated 29 neurological records of dogs with suggestive of DDIV and obtained information for inclusion in the study in 15 of them. The most frequent breeds were SRD (non-breed), followed by Dachshunds and Lhasa apso. The degree of neurological dysfunction was defined as grade I for 40% of dogs, grade II for 47%, grade III for 0% of dogs, grade IV for 7% of dogs and grade V for 7% of dogs. The recovery was satisfactory in 87% of dogs and unsatisfactory in 13%. Of those who recovered satisfactorily, 47% had recurrences and 54% had no relapse. Based on the results, it can be concluded that clinical treatment with absolute rest and administration of anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics for dogs with DDIV mainly in the thoracolumbar and cervical segments is effective especially in the milder degrees of disease (grade I and II). There is a possibility of recurrence with this type of treatment, whose clinical signs may be more severe and there is a distinction in the response between dogs of ages or genders, but the difference is insignificant, which suggests that it has no influence on the prognosis of these factors in the recovery.
