This course conclusion paper deals with the study of police investigation with emphasis on doctrinal discussion regarding its importance in criminal prosecution, as well as its need for a democratic criminal process. The objective was to highlight the doctrinal positions and give voice to the minority doctrine that militates in favor of the referred procedure. While the specific objectives were to scrutinize the nuances of the police investigation and that of the criminal investigation, as well as to question the use of investigations by the Public Ministry. The methodology applied was bibliographic and documentary research. The main conclusions were that it is necessary to change the way in which the institute is taught, as well as to open fields so that new currents, such as the one presented in the work, are increasingly relevant in the academic and practical field.
