The simple masonry works have long been implanted in civil construction and tend to continue to be executed. The rising humidity has been a problem with great incidence for the new buildings. Like any problem, it has points to be observed in order to better understand the same. The approach to this work first comes in a theoretical way, in order to provide a basis for the problem addressed, its particularities and its prevention methods. The research carried out in the city of Tubarão, in the state of Santa Catarina, in the Vila Esperança neighborhood, aims to identify the origin of the ascending moisture in simple masonry walls, incidence of pathological manifestation and preventive methods to avoid rising humidity, in field research in a residential subdivision. In order to identify the constructive types, age of buildings, age of pathological manifestations, methods of prevention of pathological manifestation, financial expenses and data analysis were used to demonstrate the importance of the prevention of ascending humidity. The result of the research shows that the problem really deserves attention and is important, since it directly affects the life of the users of the buildings and still deserves attention due to the fact that the prevention is relatively simple and cheap, but it does not receive the due attention during the construction.
