Resumo: The approach of this work has the intention of pointing out the origin and investigating the main consequences brought by the presence of rising humidity in buildings, as well as exploring the importance of taking seriously one of the most common pathological manifestations found in masonry walls, this being a mechanism generator of permanent imbroglios and paths for the appearance of several types of pathological manifestations. This research was developed with the objective of pointing out the causative vectors, analyzing the main consequences and describing the procedures for recovering the ascending humidity. To this end, it is considered a documentary research of a literature review where, for the construction of the sample, a bibliographic research of scientific articles, monographs, dissertations and published theses was used, in the last 35 years in the segment of civil construction referring to capillarity in masonry walls. Thus, the database of the electronic platform Google Scholar (Google Scholar), Scielo and Scopus was used. In this context, the importance of building a building following all the stages of planning a work with professionalism was significantly evidenced. This view points mainly to the importance of planning the waterproofing of the work, found that, many times, this process is neglected by those involved / responsible. Thus, it is concluded the importance of all human action to be carried out with knowledge, seriousness, professionalism, ethics, among other attributes that contribute significantly to the good results of all actions performed by any professional. Within the focus of this research, the role of the civil engineer stands out, since this professional plays an important social role in relation to the growth and development of society in its various dimensions.

Within the focus of this research, the role of the civil engineer stands out, since this professional plays an important social role in relation to the growth and development of society in its various dimensions.A abordagem deste trabalho tem o intuito de apontar a origem e investigar as principais consequências trazidas pela presença da umidade ascensional nas construções, como também prospectar a importância de levar a sério uma das mais comuns manifestações patológicas encontradas em paredes de alvenaria, sendo este um mecanismo gerador de imbróglios permanentes e caminhos para o surgimento de diversos tipos de manifestações patológicas. Essa pesquisa se desenvolveu com o objetivo de apontar os vetores causadores, analisar as principais consequências e descrever os procedimentos para recuperação da umidade ascensional. Para tanto, considera-se uma pesquisa documental de caráter de uma revisão de literatura onde, para a construção da amostra, foi utilizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica de artigos científicos, monografias, dissertações e teses publicadas, nos últimos 35 anos no segmento da construção civil referente à capilaridade em paredes de alvenaria. Deste modo, foi utilizada a base de dados da plataforma eletrônica Google Scholar (Google Acadêmico), Scielo e Scopus. Neste contexto, evidenciou-se de forma significativa a importância em realizar uma edificação seguindo todas as etapas do planejamento de uma obra com profissionalismo. Essa visão aponta principalmente para a importância de um planejamento de impermeabilização da obra, constatado que, muitas vezes esse processo é negligenciado pelos envolvidos/responsáveis. Desta forma, conclui-se a importância de toda ação humana ser realizada com conhecimento, seriedade, profissionalismo, ética entre outros atributos que contribuem significativamente para os bons resultados de todas ações realizadas por qualquer profissional.
