Much is questioned about commercial aviation safety, unfortunately leading to some incorrect statements to eventually become widespread and even create a certain distrust towards the activity. The purpose of this research was to introduce avian risk and demonstrate how tireless efforts are being made by various parties to minimize it and consequently increase safety to the highest possible level. The work details the increasing commitment of the Brazilian aviation authorities to create methods for receiving wildlife occurrences, thus measuring their risks and effectively taking the necessary actions. There was also a study about standards that are required in the construction of aircraft components, ensuring that even through impact conditions occupant safety always prevails. The research was made through bibliographic, and specialized material and also official publications governing both Brazilian and international aviation. Thus, a qualitative evaluation of its content took place through texts, graphics and tables available throughout the work. The present research concluded that despite numerous studies to understand and prepare aviation for mitigating the risks, much of the responsibility still rests with the public administration, in the Brazilian case the disorderly growth and the lack of initiative of the government to comply with environmental laws causes large bird attraction hotspots to become a reality around airports.
