Resumo: Accidents at work in the field of civil construction can occur for several reasons, among which we can highlight the intense pace of work, tight deadlines, disqualified labor, high turnover of labor, among others. In this context, this study aims to identify the number of work accidents reported in Brazil from 2009 to 2015 in the area of construction. This is a quantitative research with a descriptive approach, in which data were collected on the Social Security website. Of the results obtained, we highlight 64,161 accidents registered in Brazil in 2012, also in the construction of buildings 27,725 as the highest index registered in the same year. Regarding the number of accidents settled, the category “less than 15 days of incapacity for work” is represented by 66,562 cases, followed by 59,122 “disabilities for more than 15 days”. It is concluded that more rigorous inspections must be carried out to reduce the risks to which workers are often exposed, as well as the importance of companies having safety engineers, safety technicians, occupational nurses and collaborating for a working environment insurance to their workers.

Nesse contexto, esse estudo tem por objetivo identificar o número de acidentes de trabalho notificados no Brasil no período de 2009 a 2015, na área da construção civil. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa de abordagem descritiva, na qual realizou-se uma coleta de dados no site da Previdência Social. Dos resultados obtidos destaca-se 64.161 acidentes registrados no Brasil em 2012, também na construção de edifícios 27.725 como maior índice registrado no mesmo ano. Quanto ao número de acidentes liquidados, ressalta a categoria “menos de 15 dias de incapacidade de trabalho” representado por 66.562 casos, seguido por 59.122 de “incapacidades por mais de 15 dias.
