Resumo: The present work has as general objective to analyze the importance of cargo transportation through the air modal as a sustainable alternative to the growing demand of the national logistics sector. This sector is vital for Brazilian economic development, and although it has extreme dependence on land transportation, there are several modalities of transportation that can help in the subdivision of national demand, reflecting in several spheres such as increased income generation, use of other modes of transport however, such possibilities have geographical limitations that do not exist in the air transport scenario, with this mode as an excellent alternative for long-distance cargoes, especially when dealing with delicate or perishable cargoes. since it is a safe means of transport, with a low risk of collision and high speed. For the theoretical basis, a qualitative bibliographic review methodology was used, based on the research of books and scientific articles in the Scielo and Google Academic databases.

Este setor é vital para o desenvolvimento econômico brasileiro, e, embora possua uma dependência extrema do transporte terrestre, existem diversos modais de transporte que podem auxiliar na subdivisão da demanda nacional refletindo em diversas esferas como aumento da geração de renda, utilização de outros modais mais sustentáveis e com menor impacto ambiental que o terrestre, entretanto, tais possibilidades apresentam limitações geográficas que não existem no cenário do transporte aéreo, destacando este modal como uma excelente alternativa para cargas de longa distância, principalmente quando se trata de cargas delicadas ou perecíveis, tendo em vista que trata-se de um meio de transporte seguro, com baixo risco de colisão e de velocidade elevada.
