Resumo: Once symbols of development, high technology and social status, the airships, as a mean of transportation for people and cargo, have been absent from the world scenario due to a variety of factors. Notwithstanding this long absence the news account that today there is a growing movement toward the renewed employment of airships, classifying them as a safe, economically viable, competitive and environmentally sustainable air modal. In countries with large territorial dimensions and logistic challenges (great distances, lack of infrastructure, shortage of non-renewable resources, safety of valuables transportation, etc..) any investment on the development of sustainable logistic alternatives are justified, thereby airships, drones and vehicles moved with alternative sources of e energy are at the vanguard of such movement. This paper's general objective is to analyze the viability and significance of the reimplementation of modern airships on cargo transportation in Brazil and other countries with equivalent territorial spaciousness. Qualified as an exploratory research with documental and bibliographic procedure by means of academic papers, articles, books, journals and other relevant bibliographical sources including the ones available on the electronic environment. As for its nature, this paper may be qualified as both, quantitatively and qualitatively. The data analysis was conducted based on bibliographical content, including graphs, tables and theoretical validity based studies. At the end of this research, the conclusion is that the reimplementation of airships on cargo air transport is not only economically and technologically viable but would also be greatly contributive on counterbalancing the cargo circulation if appropriately added to any logistic matrix.

Apesar de ausentes a tanto tempo as notícias dão conta de que existe hoje um movimento mundial crescente em torno do reemprego dos dirigíveis, reconhecendo-o como modal aéreo seguro, economicamente viável, competitivo e ambientalmente sustentável. Em países de grandes dimensões territoriais e desafios logísticos (grandes distâncias, falta de infra estrutura, escassez de recursos não renováveis, segurança de valores transportados, etc..) justificam-se quaisquer investimentos no desenvolvimento de alternativas logísticas sustentáveis e os dirigíveis assim como os drones, e veículos movidos a energias alternativas (eletricidade, hidrogênio, etc..) estão na vanguarda desse desenvolvimento. Este trabalho teve como objetivo geral analisar a viabilidade e significância do (re)emprego de dirigíveis modernos no transporte aéreo de cargas tanto no Brasil quanto em outros países de dimensões territoriais igualmente extensas. Caracterizada como uma pesquisa exploratória com procedimento documental e bibliográfico por meio de trabalhos acadêmicos, artigos, livros, reportagens e outras fontes bibliográficas relevantes disponíveis inclusive em meio eletrônico. Quanto à natureza o presente trabalho pode ser qualificado tanto qualitativa quanto quantitativamente. A análise de dados foi conduzida com base em conteúdo bibliográfico, incluindo gráficos, tabelas e estudos alicerçados pela fundamentação teórica.
