The Civil Construction activity symbolizes one of the essential sectors in the Brazilian economy, characterized by employing a significant amount of people, indirectly or directly. However, it is seen as a highly dangerous industry as it leads high rates and rates of accidents and occupational diseases. The present work aims to better understand the importance of work safety in the sphere of Civil Construction, as well as the awareness about ways to directly influence the possibility of accidents occurring in this branch of activity. For this, the methodological strategy adopted was to review the literature, through information collected from articles, monographs, scientific journals and others. It is concluded that activities in the field of civil construction are dangerous, leaving workers exposed to many risks / hazards, of varying degrees of intensity, therefore, it is important to raise awareness about the use of individual safety equipment as a preventive measure. However, it is necessary to charge compliance with the Regulatory Standard with respect to PPE, as well as to provide employees with a safe workplace.
