Os avanços nas publicações internacionais sobre as relações entre o grau e a velocidade de internacionalização de empresas

This work aimed to analyze the evolution of the scientific studies published in international journals of higher impact factor and with more citations, relating degree and speed of internationalization. For the theoretical contribution, the classic theories of internationalization of companies, the ones of economic perspective and the ones of behavioral perspective were approached. Methodologically this study fits as a descriptive research under a qualitative approach. Since this study followed the method of bibliographical research, the data collection procedure was performed through the bibliometric technique, in which the UNISUL Integrated Research platform was used to search for articles from international academic journals that dealt with topics such as speed, degree and internationalization, from year 2004. These articles were then filtered according to their relationship to the theme, academic relevance and degree of impact, resulting in a set of 24 articles. Afterwards, as a data analysis procedure, an integrative review of the literature was carried out, which consisted of understanding the lines of research, the types of studies that have been developed under the theme of internationalization speed and its relation to the degree of internationalization. In the integrative review, it was found that the measure used for the degree of internationalization has a strong limitation because it is based on the sales of the company. In studies on speed, an important advance was the consideration that the internationalization process is continuous, that is, the speed analysis does not end at the beginning of the company's international activities. As to the type of research, it has been verified that there is a greater number of empirical studies that are based on the classic theories of internationalization of companies, especially in networks and international entrepreneurship. Despite the proposal of this study to evaluate the evolution of the researches, what has been verified is a nonlinear evolution, that is, the theoretical studies are still being conducted to better define the constructs of what refers to the speed of internationalization. In summary, this issue has not yet reached a degree of maturation and consensus among the articles analyzed, indicating research gaps that need to be addressed, such as the studies related to the speed of internationalization after market entry.
