The history of the Afro-Sul Ọdọmọde Sociocultural Institute highlights the carnival culture in Southern Brazil. After the end of the activities of the Garotos da Orgia Samba School, the Afro-Sul Group perpetuated its carnival heritage by putting the Bloco Afro Ọdọmọde on the streets of Porto Alegre since 2000. However, in 2016 the Bloco was embargoed by the city administration, among other restrictions that were imposed on the city's carnival. This research sought to investigate the trajectory of the Bloco Afro Ọdọmọde and highlight its importance in occupying the streets on November 20, the day of celebration of Black Consciousness, understanding it as a cultural manifestation integral to the black cultural heritage of Porto Alegre. This work is inserted in the field of Sociomuseology, expanding the notion of cultural heritage. The methodology used in the research mixes participant observation and semi-structured interviews aiming to enhance the oral narratives of the masters of knowledge, Iara Deodoro and Paulo Romeu.
