Resumo: This article analyzes the nascent fashion cycle that was developed in Rio de Janeiro ´s court, in the first decades of the 19th century. Therefore, it calls up the advertisements published in Gazeta do Rio de Janeiro, the first official periodical edited by Imprensa Régia during the Johannine period. Such advertisements consist of the main means of dissemination and advertising of articles offered by fashionistas, seamstresses, tailors and hairdressers who were established in the court. In addition, they make it possible to find out about their origins, the clothing items and services they offer, the spaces that their stores take place in the city and what news they announce from Europe. Finally, they make it possible to follow the diffusion of new fashion trends and the transformations on the style of carioca ladies.

Para tanto, recorre aos anúncios publicados na Gazeta do Rio de Janeiro, primeiro periódico de cunho oficial editado pela Imprensa Régia durante o período joanino. Tais anúncios consistem no principal meio de divulgação e propaganda dos artigos oferecidos por modistas, costureiras, alfaiates e cabelereiros que se estabelecem na corte. Além disso, eles permitem conhecer sua procedência, os artigos do vestuário e serviços que disponibilizam, os espaços que suas lojas ocupam na cidade e quais as novidades vindas da Europa por eles anunciadas.
