Psychotic and catatonic disorders secondary to preeclampsia

Resumo: Even though the neurological manifestations of preeclampsia are well described in the literature, little is known about its psychiatric manifestations. We here describe, for the first time according to the authors’ knowledge, the case of a patient admitted with preeclampsia and psychiatric symptoms of psychosis and catatonia. Details of diagnosis and patient management are presented. The report highlights the role of the clinician in considering the possibility of neuropsychiatricmanifestations secondary to pathological obstetric conditions.

Descrevemos aqui, pela primeira vez segundo o conhecimento dos autores, o caso de uma paciente admitida com pré-eclâmpsia e sintomas psiquiátricos de psicose e catatonia. Detalhes sobre o diagnóstico e o manejo da paciente são apresentados.
