Resumo: | This research analyses the campaign strategies published on Facebook fan pages of evangelical candidates who received official support from their churches in the 2018 race to the Legislative Assembly of Paraná. We identified and collected the materials published during the election campaign period on the aforementioned social media platform, and built thematic categories as an instrument of analysis, in a quali-quantitative approach, in order to observe and compare the singularities and similarities between the strategies employed during the elections. The results point to the intense use of religion in the campaign, especially regarding participation in religious services and celebrations made public on Facebook, as well as a highlight of the specificities of the modus operandi among religious institutions. There are a number of benefits granted to candidates awarded the official endorsement of the Church, as a strategy of those institutions that aim to gain space in the public sphere, spread their moral references, and participate in the games of power that permeate society. |
