The Spiral of Silence: an intertextual analysis of the frames on the Brazilian edition of Noelle-Neumann

Resumo: After nearly 40 years, Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann's book The Spiral of Silence arrives in the country. Although the work is extensively reviewed, the Brazilian edition remained virtually unknown even after it was launched in 2017. This paper proposes an intertextual framing analysis of the edition through its paratextual elements: acknowledgments, presentation, preface, translator notes and comments. The concept of intertextuality brings the implicit relations that the Brazilian edition of The Spiral of Silence keeps with other theoretical texts and dialogues with the notion of interdiscursivity, since these texts keep implicit and explicit relations with other discursive fields.

Embora a obra seja extensamente resenhada e trabalhada nos cursos de Comunicação Social, a edição brasileira permaneceu praticamente incógnita mesmo depois de ser lançada em 2017 pela editora Estudos Nacionais. Este artigo propõe uma análise intertextual do enquadramento da edição por meio de seus elementos paratextuais: agradecimentos, apresentação, prefácio, notas de tradutor e comentários.
