Resumo: Based on a reflection on feminist digital activism, this article develops an analysis on pictures published on Instagram following 22 hashtags posted during protests in Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador in 2019, aiming to answer the following question: how do the pictures of the 2019 South American protests on Instagram present women's political action? Undertaken in two stages - a quantitative one and a qualitative-interpretative one -, the image analysis has identified four main forms of imagery representation of women at the protests: collective protagonists, accidental activism, visual persuasion and active feminist collectives. The article also points to trends of self-representation of women on Instagram and the appropriation of hashtags as a feminist activism tool.
