Interference from circadian disruption on bone homeostasis

Resumo: Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether there is a close relationship between the circadian cycle and bone metabolism. Methods: The methodology adopted was the bibliographic search for scientific articles in the Virtual Health Databases (VHLs). Bibliographic Review: scientific evidences were sought for the interference of circadian disruption on bone homeostasis, and to point out possible mechanisms of action of this interference. Sleep abnormalities promote inflammatory, hormonal and metabolic changes causing damage of the bone metabolism, leading to believe that optimizing sleep is a factor of great importance in situations where bone neoformation is desired, such as: growth phase, orthopedic and orthognathic surgeries, installation of dental implants, periodontal treatments and others. Conclusion: It was concluded that there is interference from circadian disruption on bone homeostasis, and the mechanisms by which this interference occurs can be: increased systemic inflammation, increased oxidative stress, hormonal changes, decreased vitamin D and hypoxia.

Métodos: La metodología adoptada fue la búsqueda bibliográfica de artículos científicos en las Bases de Datos Virtuales en Salud (BVS). Revisión bibliográfica: se buscó evidencia científica de la interferencia de la disrupción circadiana en la homeostasis ósea y señalar posibles mecanismos de acción de esta interferencia. Las anomalías del sueño promueven cambios inflamatorios, hormonales y metabólicos que provocan deterioro del metabolismo óseo, lo que lleva a pensar que optimizar el sueño es un factor de gran importancia en situaciones donde se desea la neoformación ósea, entere estas podemos mencionar: la fase de crecimiento, cirugías ortopédicas y ortognáticas, instalación de implantes dentales, tratamientos periodontales y otros. Conclusión: Se concluyó que existe una interferencia de la alteración circadiana en la homeostasis ósea, y los mecanismos por los cuales se produce esta interferencia pueden ser: aumento de la inflamación sistémica, aumento del estrés oxidativo, cambios hormonales, disminución de vitamina D e hipoxia.Objetivo: O propósito deste trabalho foi avaliar se existe estreita relação entre o ciclo circadiano e o metabolismo ósseo.  Métodos: A metodologia adotada foi a pesquisa bibliográfica de artigos científicos nas Bases de Dados Virtuais de Saúde (BVSs). Revisão Bibliográfica: buscou-se evidências científicas da interferência da disrupção circadiana sobre a homeostase óssea, e apontar possíveis mecanismos de ação dessa interferência. As anomalias do sono promovem alterações inflamatórias, hormonais e metabólicas causando prejuízo do metabolismo ósseo, levando a crer que otimizar o sono é um fator de grande importância nas situações em que a neoformação óssea é desejada, como por exemplo: fase de crescimento, cirurgias ortopédicas e ortognáticas, instalação de implantes dentários, tratamentos periodontais e outros. Conclusão: Concluiu-se que existe interferência da disrupção circadiana sobre a homeostase óssea, e os mecanismos pelos quais esta interferência ocorre podem ser: aumento da inflamação sistêmica, aumento do estresse oxidativo, alterações hormonais, diminuição da vitamina D e hipóxia.Profa.
