Resumo: Between late 2010 and early 2011 a wave of protests hit the MiddleEast region. This work seeks to know what impact they had in Oman. The guiding hypothesis maintains that the protests that began in 2011 opened thedoor to a political change that, however, did not imply a deep political liberalization, muchless a democratic transition, but merely cosmetic reforms that did not attack the nature ofthe political regime there. In methodological terms, a qualitative approach is used, basedon the collection and analysis of data from primary and secondary sources.

Este trabalho procura saber que impacto tiveram em Omã. A hipótese norteadorasustenta que os protestos iniciados em 2011 abriram as portas para uma mudança políticaque, no entanto, não implicou uma profunda liberalização política, muito menos umatransição democrática, mas apenas reformas cosméticas que não atacaram a natureza doregime político. Em termos metodológicos, utiliza-se uma abordagem qualitativa, baseadana coleta e análise de dados de fontes primárias e secundárias.Entre finales de 2010 y principios de 2011 una ola de protestas azotó a la región de Medio Oriente. Este trabajo busca conocer qué impacto tuvieron las mismas en Omán. La hipótesis guía sostiene que, las protestas iniciadas en 2011 abrieron la puerta a un cambio político que, no obstante, no supuso una profunda liberalización política, mucho menos una transición democrática, sino meras reformas cosméticas que no atentaron contra la naturaleza del régimen político allí vigente.
