Resumo: The objective of the present work is to analyze how the memory of the Italian population occurredregarding the participation of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force in the campaign of Italy during theSecond World War. The theme is of extreme relevance to the Brazilian Army and military history, asit will enable future generations to appreciate how the Brazilian participation in that conflict tookplace. Brazil's entry into World War II brought great challenges for the Brazilian Army. TheBrazilians who went to defend democracy and fight against Nazism / Fascism were too inexperiencedin combat. Besides the difficult adaptation to the complicated terrain and the extremely cold climate,the soldiers had to adapt to new weapons, equipment and uniforms, as well as a new combat doctrine,all very different from what they were accustomed to handling in Brazil. Despite all these difficulties,the FEB managed to win significant victories and an important milestone of this period was the humanperformance of the Brazilian military with the Italian population, which left indelible marks in thatcountry. Thus, in this work we intend to verify how this interaction occurred between the Brazilianmilitary and the Italian civilians and what is the memory of this population that still remembers,values and honors the more than 25 thousand Brazilians who fought for the liberation of their country,with manifestations of superior appreciation and pride, even those of Brazil.

O objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar como se deu a memória da população italiana a respeito daparticipação da Força Expedicionária Brasileira na campanha da Itália, durante a Segunda GuerraMundial. O tema é de extrema relevância para o Exército Brasileiro e para a história militar, poispossibilitará que as gerações futuras possam apreciar como se deu a participação brasileira naqueleconflito. A entrada do Brasil na Segunda Guerra Mundial trouxe grandes desafios para o ExércitoBrasileiro. Os brasileiros que foram defender a democracia e lutar contra o Nazismo/Fascismo eramdemasiadamente inexperientes em combate. Além da difícil adaptação ao terreno complicado e aoclima extremamente frio, os soldados tiveram que se adaptar ainda a novos armamentos,equipamentos e uniformes, além de nova doutrina de combate, tudo bem diferente daquilo queestavam acostumados a manusear no Brasil. Apesar de todas essas dificuldades, a FEB conseguiuconquistar expressivas vitórias e um importante marco desse período foi a atuação humana dosmilitares brasileiros junto à população italiana, que deixou marcas indeléveis naquele país. Assim,neste trabalho se pretende verificar como ocorreu essa interação entre os militares brasileiros e oscivis italianos e qual é a memória dessa população que ainda recorda, valoriza e homenageia os maisde 25 mil brasileiros que lutaram para a libertação do seu país, com manifestações de apreço e orgulhosuperiores, até mesmo, às ocorridas no Brasil.
